How do I update license key?
Update license key option is under Menu --> File --> Update Key. Use Copy and Paste to enter the name and key.

How do I add my logo? How do I set different logo for each shipper?
To use the same logo for all shippers, go to Settings --> Admin area. To set logo by shipper, go to Settings --> Admin Area and select checkbox. Setup shipper logos on shipper screens (Menu --> Masters --> Shipper)

How do I install SmartBOL Classic and Enterprise on more than one machine?
Refer to Installation Steps here.

How do I send BOL, manifest or other documents as an email attachment?
Setup email server properties (Settings --> Email Settings). Enter your mail (SMTP) server, select type of encryption type - None, SSL or TLS, type your name & email (email receiver will see this name and email id as from name & email). Please ask your network administrator or ISP provider about the SMTP server name/IP and encryption type.

Setting for GMail (www.gmail.com)
SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
Encryption: SSL or TLS
From Name & Email: Your name and gmail email id with @gmail.com
Email User & Password: your gmail id and Password

Setting for Yahoo Mail (mail.yahoo.com)
SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Encryption: SSL
From Name & Email: Your name and yahoo email id with @yahoo.com

Classic version: Where are my data files?

Go to Menu --> System --> Set Data Path. Data path can be viewed or set on this screen.

Data files on the same machine:

Classic version 6.1 and later - stop SmartBOL if running on any machine. Backup data files from Data Folder (Start --> All Programs --> ADi SmartBOL --> Data Folder) typically C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ADi SmartBOL\SmartBOL\Data.

Classic version 6.0 or earlier - stop SmartBOL if running. Backup data files from Data Folder (Start --> All Programs --> ADi SmartBOL --> Data Folder) typically C:\Program Files\ADi SmartBOL\SmartBOL\Data.

Data files not stored on the same machine or stored in a network location:

Shared data folder can be viewed and / or reset by clicking Menu --> System --> Set Data Path.  

How do I backup my data files?

Enterprise Version: Backup SQL Server databases using SQL Server Enterprise Manager.

Classic Version: Find your data path as explained in the earlier question. Backup Data files; dbd2.mdb, dbm2.mdb, dbuser2.mdb and, if present, dbexport.mdb. Do not backup any other files in the data folder. Do not store any other files in data folder.

How do I transfer my license to a new machine?
Find your installer or installation media (such as CD) and license key. If you do not have either, contact SmartBOL Support If your support contract is active. If the SmartBOL support has expired, you may purchase upgrade license to upgrade to the latest version. Please refer to support policies at www.smartbol.com/support.htm for support policies.

Note: If your support contract has expired, follow these instructions at your own risk. SmartBOL support can not help you if the transfer does not work.

Classic version - Single Machine installation: Backup data files as explained earlier. Install SmartBOL on the new machine. Copy the backup up data files into the data folder of the new machine. Start SmartBOL and enter license key. After SmartBOL is running, verify your data. After verification, uninstall SmartBOL from the old machine. Using SmartBOL on more than one machine with the same key violates the SmartBOL license terms.

Classic version - Networked Installation: Copy data files in to the shared network location. Make sure that the WIndows can read / write into the folder and has teh same rights on the data files.

Enterprise version - Copy the config file from teh old machine to same folder of the new machine. Run admin tool on a SmartBOL client machine to locate the config file path.
